How to Apply
The students who come to Appalachian create a learning environment that is at once stimulating, lively, and friendly. Actually, these admission forms are the most impersonal thing you're likely to encounter on our otherwise congenial campus.
Submitting the Application
To make the application process easier, we encourage you to apply on-line. Why? It's easy (the on-line form has detailed instructions). It's safe (the data is encrypted). And applying on-line also means a shorter review and notification process.
If it is not possible for you to apply on-line, please contact our office for further assistance. Admissions representatives are available weekdays (Monday-Friday) from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST. Call 828-262-2120; e-mail admissions@appstate.edu; or contact us if you have any questions. How you apply--on-line or paper-- won't have any bearing on the admission decision.
The Application Package
A complete application package includes the following items:
- A completed application (on-line is preferred).
- A non-refundable application fee of $50.
- Official copy of high school transcripts that includes grades 9 - 12.
- SAT or ACT results submitted directly to Appalachian from the appropriate testing service (we recommend that all transfer applicants submit test scores but transfer students with fewer than 30 semester hours of transferable work must present SAT or ACT scores).
- Official college transcripts submitted directly to Appalachian from each institution. This includes freshmen applicants who are taking (or have completed) college dual-enrollment courses
Official high school and college transcripts should be mailed to:
