For High School Students
We are looking to enroll a group of new students who will be academically motivated in the classroom and who will bring a diverse pool of talents and interests to Appalachian.
Admission decisions are based on meeting the minimum course requirements (MCR), and a combination of high school achievement and SAT or ACT score. Admission is competitive, that is, we receive more applications than we have room for in our freshmen class.
Competitive admission averages from the 2006-07 freshman applicant pool:
- Average Freshman high school GPA: 3.73
- Average Freshman SAT: 1131
- Freshman Enrollment: 2,716

AP and IB Credits
Appalachian accepts Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) credits and information regarding scores may be obtained from the Office of Admissions. Official Advanced Placement exam scores and/or International Baccalaureate exam scores should be sent to Appalachian from Educational Testing Services. Applicants who are taking or have completed college dual-enrollment courses, should request an official college transcript be sent to the Office of Admissions from each college attended.
