  • US Highway 321 Travel Advisory

    If you will be traveling on U.S. 321 through Caldwell County near Lenoir, please be advised that the entire roadway may close on Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon until 2 p.m.

Visitors to the North Carolina High Country are encouraged to visit North Carolina High Country Host to learn more about the many options of accommodations for visitors to our area.

We also suggest that you consider Appalachian State University’s own Broyhill Inn and Conference Center which is located on our campus for your overnight accommodations. Contact the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center direct at 800/951-6048 and ask for the “Appalachian Admissions Special Rate” (based on availability) and enjoy the comfortable amenities offered at our campus hotel and conference center. This rate is valid for prospective students and their families who are visiting the Office of Admissions for a campus tour.

There are many exciting and unique attractions and entertainment options in the North Carolina High Country. In Boone and the surrounding communities such as Blowing Rock and Banner Elk, there are numerous outlets which provide our students and visitors with opportunities for fun and relaxation as well as important cultural and educational venues.
